How it works

What Leads to Stress in Cats and Dogs?

Cats and dogs may experience stress when faced with routine changes or uncomfortable situations. Unusual sights, loud noises and even strange smells can trigger a stressful reaction in your pet. What seems like a daily occurrence to us may provoke stress in animals and lead to destructive behavior, excessive barking, hyperactivity or inappropriate elimination.

Our Formula for Composure

All of the ingredients in Composure™ play an essential role in naturally calming your pet’s body and mind without the use of drugs or pharmaceuticals.

Colostrum Calming Complex® Biopeptide Blend

The C3™ (Colostrum Calming Complex) is a mixture of bioactive proteins produced from a special microfiltration process of certified bovine colostrum. This specific fraction of the colostrum possesses proven calming or anxiolytic properties. The carefully monitored process assures the bioactive components are separated and isolated without the application of denaturing heat or physical stressor. The C3™ Complex contains bioactive, proline-rich proteins, special monosaccharides and specific fatty acids that work together to enhance the calming activity of the colostrum fraction.

The Colostrum Calming Complex supports brain activity, relaxation and cognitive function. Its effectiveness in dogs and cats may be due in part to its ability to enhance the effect of Gamma-Amino Butyric Acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that inhibits brain activity. It is thought that the C3™ Complex provides molecular precursors that support the calming response by normalizing cognitive and brain functions associated with excessive brain activity.

Thiamine (Vitamin B1)

Thiamine (vitamin B1) helps manage stress and helps irritability. Thiamine has been shown to affect the central nervous system to help calm and soothe anxious animals. A lack of thiamine can cause mental confusion, muscular weakness, muscle spasms, nervousness, reduced appetite, or weight loss during periods of stress.

L-Theanine supports calming behavior and helps reduce irritability and low mood states. L-Theanine has been extensively researched for its ability to reduce stress, anxiousness and unwanted behavior. L-Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in green tea that is a derivative of the neurotransmitter glutamic acid. It helps the body produce other calming amino acids, such as dopamine, GABA and tryptophan and it helps bring certain neurotransmitters into balance. Studies on L-Theanine showed reduced anxiety-related behavior in dogs without adverse effect or drowsiness; dogs were alert, playful, and calmer in stressful situations.
